As a foodie parent, it is always important for us to find great eats to pair with our adventures. During our visit to Jamestown, we discovered a fun mix of cozy coffee shops, casual restaurants, a local brewery, and even a fantastic spot for ice cream. Best of all, these are places where kids are welcome, and parents can enjoy the experience, too! 

While you're touring Jamestown's best eats, I recommend trying at least one hot beef and kuchen. Both are North Dakota staples, and I always seek them out! Babb's Coffee House (Breakfast, Lunch, Early Afternoon)

If I could pick just one place to return to in Jamestown, Babb's Coffee House would be at the top of my list. It very quickly became one of my new favorite coffee shops in the Midwest! 

During our recent visit to Jamestown, we started every morning here. They have excellent coffee (and I'm picky with my coffee!), delicious baked goods, and all the eclectic coffee-shop vibes you want when traveling. Babb's also has a diverse menu with breakfast and lunch options. I recommend any of the smoothies, coffee, lemonades, kuchen, pie, muffins, and even the ice cream (we tried SO many things here over our weekend visit!). 

The cute downtown space has plenty of seating for both small and large groups, and the friendly staff makes you feel right at home. Whether you need a caffeine break, picnic supplies, or a cozy place to start your day, Babb's is one of the best places to eat in Jamestown for families.

Hondo's Hideaway (Lunch, Dinner, Weekend Breakfast)

For a meal with a view, head to Hondo's Hideaway on the Jamestown Reservoir. This casual restaurant serves up comfort food favorites like burgers and hot beef, along with breakfast options. I recommend the hot beef! It's a great one to try while visiting Jamestown. There is a small kids' menu, too. I'm pretty confident everyone in the family will find what they want here!

There's indoor and outdoor seating. In the summer, I recommend eating outside so that you can enjoy the beautiful reservoir views while you eat! Hondo's is especially fun for families thanks to its kids menu, games, coloring supplies, and a treasure hunt. If your kids find the hidden treasure chest, they even get a prize (which my daughter loved!).

After swimming at the reservoir or hiking nearby, Hondo's is an easy place to grab lunch without having to go far. It's relaxed, welcoming, and one of my favorite family-friendly restaurants in Jamestown, ND.

Johnny B's Brickhouse (Lunch, Dinner)

When you're craving classic pub fare, Johnny B's Brickhouse is one of the best places to eat in downtown Jamestown for families. The menu features burgers, wood-fired pizza, wings, sandwiches, and more (including gluten-free options). A kids' menu means littles have plenty of choices, too! My daughter loved her little pizza. And, my buffalo chicken wrap was dynamite after a morning hike.

The restaurant occupies a completely restored building dating back to the 1800s, giving it plenty of character. With its vaulted ceilings and large windows, it's a comfortable place for families to settle in for lunch or dinner. The staff is super friendly, too! They check in regularly to make sure you have everything you need. Plenty of indoor seating is available for small and large groups, including some bar seating. Johnny B's is also locally owned and an easy choice when you're looking for kid-friendly places to eat in Jamestown.

Drift Prairie Brewing (Lunch, Dinner)

Don't let the brewery name fool you. Drift Prairie Brewing is a fun and welcoming stop for the whole family! The bright and airy taproom has plenty of space (including large tables that work well for bigger groups). There's even a garage door that comes up when the weather is nice. And, a large patio out back. If you're wondering where to eat lunch or dinner in Jamestown, ND, this is a great downtown option with kids!

The menu is packed with family favorites. Think burgers, wings, pizza, lavash (a local favorite!), and BBQ. There's a kids' menu, too. Plus, family games and a colorful corner for kids to play. Parents can enjoy one of the brewery's beers, while kids can sip on fresh lemonade. I tried and recommend both! And whatever you do, save room for the kuchen.

Even if you're just stopping in for a drink, Drift Prairie Brewing is worth adding to your Jamestown itinerary.

Buffalo Grill (Lunch, Dinner)

Buffalo Grill was probably my favorite restaurant in Jamestown for dinner. I went in determined to try the bison steak, but they had sold out (a good sign, I think!). Thankfully, my steak alternative was still incredible, so I wasn't disappointed!

As the name suggests, bison is part of the experience here, with bison steak and burgers available (when they're in stock) and bison art on some of the walls. Steak is the specialty, and the restaurant has that fun steakhouse vibe that makes dinner feel like a special occasion without being too fancy for families. The prices are also pretty affordable for a steakhouse. There's a kids' menu, too, though my daughter opted for nachos here! This might also be the best place in town for craft cocktails. My husband really enjoyed his smoky Old Fashioned. 

There is plenty of seating (including bar seating), some outdoor seating, and friendly service. I also loved the fun bison-themed accents and photo opportunities throughout the restaurant. If you're wondering where to eat in Jamestown, ND, with kids, Buffalo Grill is definitely worth putting on your list.

Ice Cream at Frontier Village General Store (Treats)

No family getaway is complete without a sweet treat, and the Frontier Village General Store is the perfect place to indulge. After exploring Frontier Village and seeing the World's Largest Buffalo, stop inside the General Store for a scoop or two of ice cream.

The store itself is fun to browse, with cute souvenirs and old-fashioned charm, but the ice cream was the highlight for us. It's an easy addition to a day of exploring. Not to mention, a delicious way to cool off during the summer. They offer kuchen here, too! 

Between the ice cream and the fun souvenirs, this is one stop the kids won't want to skip!
