From cozy cafés to bustling downtown eateries, each restaurant on this list offers menus that appeal to both kids and adults. Trust me, we found plenty of spots in Grand Rapids that made our meals memorable and delicious during our family visit to the city.

In this foodie parent's guide to Grand Rapids, we're sharing our picks for the best restaurants in the city with kids. These are all places we actually tried and recommend to other families (whether they are locals or visitors like us!). If you're wondering where to eat in Grand Rapids with kids, these 11 restaurants offer delicious food, welcoming vibes, and kid-approved bites.

Lyon St. Café (Coffee, Breakfast)

If you're wondering where to get coffee in Grand Rapids with kids, Lyon Street Café is a must-stop. This welcoming neighborhood café is all about high-quality beverages and cultivating a friendly, community-driven atmosphere. I highly recommend one of their seasonal coffees. I loved the pumpkin latte I tried!

With its cozy, approachable vibe and dedication to quality, Lyon Street Café isn't just a run-of-the-mill coffee shop. It's a place to connect, unwind, and fuel up before a day of exploring Grand Rapids with the family.

Pro tip: Grab a pastry from Nantucket Baking Co., it's right next door. They are an elite Grand Rapids combination!

Nantucket Baking Co. (Bakery)

Inside the bakery at Nantucket Baking Company.

For anyone searching for the best bakeries in Grand Rapids with kids, Nantucket Baking Co. is a true delight. The moment you walk in, the smells of fresh bread and pastries immediately put you at ease-though the sheer variety can be a little overwhelming (in the best way!). Don't hesitate to ask the friendly staff for recommendations. If you want my recommendation, go with the pumpkin pie croissant if you see it. You can thank me later! My daughter would recommend the scone filled with sprinkles.

Nantucket Baking Co. has been a staple in Grand Rapids for 25 years. You'll love that they still use traditional baking techniques. And, of course, high-quality ingredients that add to the flavor and whimsy of each bite. Every loaf, pastry, and cake is genuinely made with love.

Stovetop Coffee Roasters (Coffee, Breakfast)

I think seasonal coffee is best from Stovetop Coffee Roasters! This charming neighborhood café sits on a tree-lined block that is absolutely gorgeous. The walk there is almost as enjoyable as the coffee itself.

Inside, you'll find a small but tempting selection of pastries. Some were a tad on the sweet side, but still pretty darn good! Plus, they have some of the most creative seasonal drinks around. My favorite? The Auntie Whispers. It's a cozy fall drink with a hint of sarsaparilla-perfect to sip while exploring the city. It's another get this and thank me later recommendation!

Finally, the café's playful characters are sure to delight kids and adults alike. It's a whimsical stop for the whole family before heading to your next adventure in Grand Rapids.

Morning Belle (Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch)

A brunch spread from Morning Belle.

Looking for one of the best restaurants for brunch in Grand Rapids with kids? This place was actually voted BEST BRUNCH by Grand Rapids Magazine! Morning Belle is a bright, cheerful eatery that instantly puts you in a good mood. And, the menu is massive! They serve everything from fluffy pancakes and creative Benedicts to hearty hashes and even giant cinnamon rolls. The kids' menu is just as fun, complete with colorful sprinkles on their pancakes!

Antonia enjoys brunch from a Grand Rapids hot spot.

Everything here is made from scratch using fresh, local ingredients. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options are all available. Pair your meal with a cup of coffee or a mimosa, and you've got the perfect start to your day. Between the friendly service, sunny vibe, and picture-perfect plates, Morning Belle feels like a little everyday luxury.

High Tea Grand Rapids (Lunch, Afternoon Tea)

For a one-of-a-kind dining experience, book a reservation at High Tea Grand Rapids. High Tea Grand Rapids hosts themed and traditional teas year-round. Our fall visit coincided with the Wizard's Tea menu. This seasonal touch added a whimsical twist to the classic British tradition.

Each tea service comes with savory sandwiches, sweet treats, and your choice of teas. The full afternoon tea includes a three-tiered tray featuring four savory and four sweet bites, plus a warm English scone accompanied by clotted cream and preserves. For a lighter option, you can choose just one tier-like the Cream Tea or Tiffin.

With wonderful service, charming presentation, and a cozy, storybook setting, High Tea Grand Rapids makes for a magical family meal. This is undoubtedly one of the most unique kid-friendly dining experiences in Grand Rapids!

Two Beards Deli (Lunch, Dinner)

Soup and a sandwich from Two Beards Deli.

Two Beards Deli is easily one of the best restaurants for lunch in Grand Rapids with kids. This laid-back downtown favorite has been serving up delicious sandwiches for more than a decade-and trust me, the menu is HUGE.

With over 100 sandwich options (plus soups and salads), there's truly something for everyone. You'll also find a variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, making it an ideal spot for families with diverse needs and tastes.

The vibe inside is fun and quirky. There are shelves of action figures and nerdy artwork adorning the walls. Additionally, there are several cozy tables perfect for a relaxed meal. Two Beards Deli delivers big on flavor! I recommend the Reuben with a cup of soup.

GR Downtown Market (Lunch, Dinner)

A man checks out a vendor stall at GR Downtown Market.

Wondering where to eat in Grand Rapids with picky eaters and kids? This is the place! GR Downtown Market is one of the most vibrant and kid-friendly restaurants in Grand Rapids-well, technically, a collection of them! Lots of choices mean everyone gets what they want.

This lively food hall brings together 19 local vendors under one roof. It's a bright, bustling space that reminded me of Philly's Reading Terminal Market (just a bit smaller and easier to navigate with kids).

We grabbed flavorful Indian dishes from Curry Leaf and sushi from Sushi Market. Then, we found seats at Sav Sav by Squibb. Here, parents can enjoy a glass of wine while kids dig into their dinner. Their seating is available to everyone. But seating isn't a problem at GR Downtown Market. Once you pick up your order, you'll have plenty of seating to choose from to enjoy your meal.

Whether your crew craves noodles, tacos, or a quick dessert, this spot makes dinner easy, casual, and delicious. No wonder it's a favorite amongst kid-friendly restaurants in Grand Rapids!

Butcher's Union (Dinner, Weekend Lunch)

A steak dinner at Butcher’s Union.

Butcher's Union is one of the most popular restaurants in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for families who love a hip, energetic vibe and locally sourced food. It's even located in the vibrant Westside neighborhood.

A plate of yummy pasta from Butcher’s Union.

Known for its steaks, inventive sides, and impressive whiskey list, this lively spot buzzes with conversation and clinking glasses from the moment you walk in. The menu is designed for sharing, which makes it fun for families with curious eaters to sample a little of everything.

It's worth noting that Butcher's Union can be dark and quite loud, so if anyone in your crew has sensory sensitivities, you might want to choose another spot. But if you enjoy trendy, bustling spaces with great food, you'll love it here.

Terra (Dinner, Weekend Lunch)

Pasta at Terra.

Terra was hands-down our favorite meal of our time in Grand Rapids. As foodies, Terra has everything we look for in a restaurant: friendly service, outstanding menu, and good vibes.

Terra's farm-to-table approach shines through in every bite. Everything on the menu is seasonal and as locally sourced as possible. These high-quality ingredients are transformed into dynamite wood-fired pizzas, flavorful pastas, and hearty mains that satisfy both grown-ups and little ones. There is also a dedicated kids' menu for littles.

This warm, rustic-chic restaurant is easily one of the best restaurants for dinner in Grand Rapids with kids. The atmosphere feels cozy yet elevated-perfect after a day of exploring the city. With friendly service and food that's both thoughtful and delicious, Terra strikes the perfect balance between family-friendly and foodie-approved.

Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends.

MDRD (Dinner, Dessert, Cocktails)

A cocktail with a city view in the distance from MDRD.

Perched high above the city on the 27th floor of the Amway Grand Plaza, MDRD is one of the best high-end restaurants in Grand Rapids with kids. The panoramic views of downtown Grand Rapids are breathtaking, but the real magic is on the plate.

A lemon dessert from MDRD.

The modern Spanish-inspired menu feels both refined and fun, with beautifully presented dishes and showstopping desserts. We stopped in twice just for cocktails and dessert. Our daughter adored the whimsical cotton candy tree dessert! And, the lemon one was a favorite for us. It adds just the right amount of tart and lemony goodness!

MDRD delivers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended.

Margaux (All Day)

A posh desert from Margaux in Grand Rapids, one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids with kids.

Located inside the JW Marriott, Margaux brings the charm of a Parisian bistro to downtown Grand Rapids. It's one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids for families with kids who enjoy a touch of elegance without the formality. The space is beautiful, bright, and modern with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Grand River. The service is warm and welcoming.

We stopped in for a glass of wine and dessert on our first night in town. I instantly wished we had had dinner here, too. The French-inspired dishes are all made with locally sourced ingredients. It's just the right touch of classic French flavors with Midwestern comfort. Whether you're visiting for a special dinner or just dessert and drinks like us, Margaux feels like a mini escape to Paris (right in the heart of Grand Rapids!).
