Twenty Below Coffee Co. (Coffee, Pastries, Breakfast)

A hand holds out an iced latte in downtown Fargo.

If you're looking for kid-friendly restaurants in downtown Fargo, Twenty Below Coffee Co. is PERFECTION. Honestly, it's one of the best coffee shops I've ever visited while traveling.  If I lived in Fargo, I'd be here daily! And, it's Fargo’s only independent coffee roaster.

Their menu is filled with creative coffee options, whether you love a classic pour-over or something adventurous. And, their pastries and heartier bites make it easy to linger over breakfast. What really sets it apart for families, though, is the game area tucked in the back, perfect for kids who need a break while parents sip slowly. With cozy indoor seating and a few outdoor tables, this coffee shop truly feels like Fargo at its best.

Youngblood Coffee Roasters (Coffee)

An espresso in downtown Fargo.

If you're wondering where to find coffee in downtown Fargo, Youngblood Coffee Roasters is a trendy spot that's all about atmosphere. The space is airy and modern, with a minimalist design.

Their coffee leans on the bold and straightforward side. Admittedly, it's not my favorite in town (a little bitter for me), but it's still worth a stop if you're already exploring downtown. The location makes it especially convenient when you want something quick before heading to one of Fargo's nearby shops or museums. Think of it as your go-to place for a caffeine boost with a side of design inspiration.

Marge's Diner (Breakfast, Lunch, Brunch)

Marge's Diner is precisely the kind of place you hope to find when exploring new cities as a family. This funky diner belongs in EVERY Fargo restaurant guide for families. And, it's one of the most fun, kid-friendly restaurants in downtown Fargo (you're going to love it!).

The menu is the perfect mix of homey classics and inventive twists, with daily brunch dishes that make it a local favorite. The dedicated menu keeps things easy for kiddos. Parents will find plenty of great eats, too! I loved the Breakfast Rolls (a savory twist on the cinnamon roll). While you're waiting, you can also marvel at the whimsical salt and pepper shaker collection. This massive collection lines the shelves and walls. It's quirky, nostalgic, and adds to the charm that makes Fargo a fun destination for families.

Boppa's Bagels (Breakfast + Lunch)

A hand holds out a bagel from Boppa’s Bagels, with the bagel case in the distance.

For a quick and satisfying breakfast (or lunch), Boppa's Bagels ranks highly among my favorite Fargo restaurants (especially with kids!). This cozy, bustling bagel shop has flavors everyone will love. The hardest part is choosing from their seemingly endless options. Whether you want a toasted bagel with classic cream cheese or a hearty breakfast sandwich, you'll find something to love. It's a great spot to kick off a day of adventure!

Personally, I can't resist the apple cinnamon bagel paired with maple walnut cream cheese-it's *iconic*. They even have smoothies if you're craving something fruity with your bagel. If you're wondering where to eat breakfast in Fargo, this family-friendly gem should be at the top of your list. Its flavors genuinely surprised us in the best ways!

Red River Market (Seasonal, Breakfast + Lunch)

Indian tacos from a food truck at the Red River Market in Fargo.

If your visit to Fargo falls during market season, don't miss the Red River Market. If you're looking for a quick breakfast or lunch, it's easily one of the most exciting places to eat in Fargo with kids.

On one side, you'll find local farmers and artisans selling produce, flowers, ceramics, and jewelry. On the other, food and drink vendors keep everyone happily fed. Imagine a whole city block bursting with food trucks, offering everything from Indian and tacos to burgers and fresh bread. Kids will love the play area and live music, while parents can browse or relax with a coffee or local beer. And whatever food truck find that piques your interest!

Beer & Fish Company

Fish and chips from Beer & Fish Company, one of the best Fargo restaurants with kids.

When you're downtown and craving seafood, Beer & Fish Company is a standout among the best Fargo restaurants with kids. This was one of my favorite stops in Fargo! Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere. I highly recommend ordering the lobster tacos!

While there isn't a formal kids' menu, little ones won't feel left out thanks to options like chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Parents can indulge in favorites like the seafood or fish tacos and fish and chips. The restaurant itself is spacious and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Tucked just off an alley decorated with vibrant murals, Beer & Fish Company has a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to bring the whole family. I promise, it's a fun, flavorful stop for everyone.

Unicorn Park Fine Foodery (Brewhalla)

A hand holds out a burger from Unicorn Park Fine Foodery, one of the best Fargo restaurants with kids.

If you're wondering where to eat dinner in Fargo with kids, Unicorn Park Fine Foodery inside Brewhalla delivers a playful twist on burgers. This isn't just a burger joint. It's a foodie experience in one of the trendiest places in Fargo.

Every item is made to order with scratch-made, sustainably sourced ingredients, giving each bite an elevated (almost whimsical) touch. The burgers are hearty and inventive, the fries are gourmet, and the whole menu feels thoughtfully crafted. My recommendation? The Double NoDak Smash Burger-it's indulgent, delicious, and absolutely worth the hype.

Of course, kids will love the fun, colorful vibe of Unicorn Park. Families will also appreciate the casual setting of Brewhalla. Since it's a food hall, everyone can order what they want! It's a favorite place to eat in Fargo with kids for a reason!

The Bird Woodfire Pizza (Brewhalla)

A pizza from The Bird Woodfire Pizza inside Brewhalla.

Pizza is always a crowd-pleaser, and The Bird Woodfire Pizza inside Brewhalla is no exception. This sister restaurant to downtown's Blackbird Woodfire is perfect for families searching for the best pizza restaurants in Fargo with kids.

The menu at the Brewhalla location lets you build your own wood-fired pizza. Or, try one of their inventive Brewhalla specialty pies. The setting is lively and casual, making it easy to relax while kids dive into their favorite slices. As part of Brewhalla's food and entertainment wonderland, it's also a great spot to explore after your meal. For my Fargo restaurant guide for families, The Bird earns a top spot!

Rhombus Guys

Overhead of three personal pizzas from Rhombus Guys.

Rhombus Guys is one of the most fun kid-friendly restaurants in downtown Fargo-and not just because of its pizza (though, it's that good!). The menu is huge! Rhombus Guys offers options ranging from Detroit-style to unique flavor combinations.

Parents will appreciate this spot just as much as kids! Get the taco pizza, you won’t be sorry! While there's technically a kids' menu, most families don't need it because the pizzas are already so shareable. Large booths make it easy to spread out. Coloring tablecloths keeps little ones entertained while you wait. Yes, you get to color right on the table! With daily specials, a super kind staff, and a retro pizza vibe you'll love, Rhombus Guys is a must-visit for pizza lovers visiting Fargo.

Café Aladdin

Gyros and other favorites from Café Aladdin, one of the best Fargo restaurants with kids.

For a more low-key meal, Café Aladdin is a hidden gem in Fargo. It immediately feels welcoming. And, the staff loves making recommendations. The food is authentic, homemade, and absolutely delicious.

You can order everything from stuffed grape leaves and flavorful kebabs to gyros. Everything is made fresh to order. I highly recommend getting at least one gyro and the hummus! Halal meat is available upon request, making it an inclusive choice for many families. If you're looking for a relaxed, casual stop that still feels special, Café Aladdin is the perfect spot for a good family meal in Fargo.

The Original Moorhead Dairy Queen (Seasonal)

The exterior of The Original Moorhead Dairy Queen.

No Fargo restaurant guide for families would be complete without a stop at the Original Moorhead Dairy Queen (just across the river in Moorhead). This spot is more than a dessert stop or an afternoon pick-me-up. It's local history.

Me and my dilly bar in front of the world's largest dilly bar at The Original Moorhead Dairy Queen, one of the best Fargo restaurants with kids.

Known as the birthplace of the world-famous Dilly Bar, this walk-up DQ has been serving the community since the 1950s. And, it still operates under its 70-year-old original franchise contract. Kids love the giant Dilly Bar statue out front. Of course, parents will appreciate the nostalgia of hand-dipped treats made the old-fashioned way. With a large outdoor seating area, it's one of the most iconic (and fun) Fargo restaurants for a sweet treat with kids. (There is no indoor seating, and the restaurant is only open seasonally, March – October.)

Duchessa Gelato (Brewhalla)

If you're searching for where to eat ice cream in Fargo, Duchessa Gelato inside Brewhalla is a must-visit. This family-run shop serves artisan gelato made with milk from their own dairy farm in Carrington, North Dakota.

Every scoop is creamy, flavorful, and crafted with care. We had pistachio gelato and enjoyed it a lot! Plus, they serve stroopwafel treats that pair perfectly with the gelato. It's a delightful spot to get dessert after exploring Brewhalla's food vendors and entertainment.
